The Freedom party made some efforts to remove them but I don’t think the United Workers Party ever made an effort. The people always maintain that the removal of these wrecks will provide better opportunities for the people there. This posed a challenge because you need resources to have them removed,” he said.Skerrit says the removal of the wrecks will enable Portsmouth “to become what it ought to be in terms of tourism and development”.He said it will increase the value of property in Portsmouth.“It will lend Portsmouth to better opportunities because they were really an eyesore,” he added.Skerrit said the government of Venezuela must be thanked for their decision to take on the project.“It is very expensive undertaken and we are grateful. Otherwise we would have to contract a loan and the Venezuelan government approved that request from government of Dominica to assist us with that,” he said. The prime minister views the project as a major one.Dominica Vibes News Tweetcenter_img Sharing is caring!
